Ghosts and Paranormal
I am a retired electrical engineer who’s life has been dominated by logic and analytics. So you might wonder how ghost stories fit into that sort of mentality? I will admit ghosts and paranormal in general are an anomaly to me, unexplained by science. As an old physics professor once pounded into our heads during class one day, “If you can’t measure it isn’t there,”……and you can’t measure ghosts.
But simple logic will tell you that is not sound reasoning. After all there are numerous scientific discoveries made only after the ability to, “measure it,” was developed.
I am one of those who believes this stuff does exist at some level. I believe it is quite real, primarily because I have experienced it. Being logically minded I try to make logical sense of it all. Some of it is quite logical. Yet some defies logic or any explanation. It is not logical to conclude something did not happen simply because we don’t understand how it could happen? Perhaps it’s a defense mechanism we all have. Keep this in mind when you hear about paranormal events and want to simply dismiss it all as nonsense.
If you and a friend are walking along and you hear a noise but your friend didn’t, does that mean the noise was never there? One plausible explanation is, perhaps the noise was never there. Perhaps it never did happen. But should that be the explanation we run to every time we don’t hear it, we don’t see it or we don’t understand it?
If that’s the way all of us think, many things that have become common knowledge and common place would not exist today because they would have been left undiscovered. Discovery only happens when someone is curious enough to investigate what that noise was……that no one else heard.
