Ruth Harwood just started reading this, a few chapters in and definitely a book worth reading! Keep an eye out for my review, I write more detailed ones, yet try to avoid spoilers!

Harry Sidebottom Look forward to your review, Ruth

Ruth Harwood Loved it! I reviewed a book you wrote last year as well (The last hour), but I've been reading your books since the first, and like Iggulden and Ben Kane, yours is a name I always keep my eye out for, and have done for a very long time, so it's an honour for me to say hello and get a hi back - a bit like a soap opera addict meeting the actor they love from Eastenders or something lol! Keep on writing, I love your books, and eagerly keep my eye out for their release every year!

Harry Sidebottom That is lovely to hear! So glad you enjoy the novels.
Like the Eastenders comparison. If I had not been a writer, I really wanted to be an actor!

Ruth Harwood I'm glad you like the comparison, Authors are seriously underrated, the ability to write a good book, and the effort of research, editing and actually finding a publisher is not easy, so it's good to let people know that it's not just the books that are made into tv or film that are worth the time to read! In fact, most of the time, it's those not turned into viewing that are worth the time! Thanks, hope the review was fair and worth it, Ruth xx

Harry Sidebottom Dear Ruth,
I thought your review both fair and worth it.
I was interested in your comment about paragraphs containing sentences of the same length. Never thought about this before. But I have never done a creative writing course! Odd, no copy editor ever mentioned this to me. Will keep an eye out, and think more about this.
Very best
Harry x

Ruth Harwood it's only because I have done Creative writing as part of my uni degree that I take note of these things, I think! And honestly, there are only one or two places you do it, and we were told that it's a common thing, most writer's fall into the trap and it really is only when it happens on every page you need to worry! It certainly didn't stop me enjoying the book, and I hope the review encourages other readers to love your books as well!

Harry Sidebottom Thanks
Harry

Peter Just finished reading this after just a few days, a hauntingly readable story I just could not stop turning pages. Fascinating story that drew me into that period, its peoples and places and their life.
Will be reading The Return & The Last Hour as soon as possible, can't wait.

Harry Sidebottom Peter,
Thank you very much. That is wonderful.
Hope you enjoy the other novels too.
Best wishes
