Audio! And updates.
Good Afternoon, my 11 followers!
I am taking the next step in the self-publishing world: creating audio books with ACX.
I've settled on a fantastic narrator for DYBSY—Skyler Morgan—and have just approved the first 15 minutes. The completed book should be here within the next 4-5 weeks, so keep your eyes and ears out. I've ever got the cover work done already, and it looks just as fabulous as you'd expect.
I'm currently auditioning for REMEMBER THE DAWN. I've received 40 auditions so far (wow!), and will be keeping auditions open until the end of May. I've got my top 5 narrowed from the 40+ so far, but we'll see what else may come. This book is longer, and more complex, so I imagine a longer timeline for production.
What an exciting time.
What is less exciting is the state of my writing. I've gone through some personal turmoil to start the year, so I've not written anywhere close to what I've wanted.
In the first month or so, I cranked out 30,000 words of a new YA Sci Fi story in the style of Alita: Battle Angel meets Divergent. It's a space-based society, where two warring civilizations who've occupied the same solar system fight for control of the only remaining habitable planet.
The sequel to DAWN remains at 15,000 words, with no progress in many, many months. I really should get to writing it, but the reception to Book 1 has been exceptionally lukewarm (still only 4 reviews). I think I will see what reception the Audio gets before I return.
The sequel to DYBSY never got past the first two chapters, and it's been so long since I've written anything. I feel like the groundwork and worldbuilding is there to take the series in a great direction, but my motivation is lacking.
I've got three or four other projects that are half-written and just languishing in my Dropbox, and though I love them all, I feel no urge to get back to them.
RIGHT NOW, I really just want to start a new story; however, this time I'm not pantsing. I am meticulously worldbuilding using a Reedsy template. I am not going to put a single word on the page until I under everything about my world and all of its inner workings and machinations and conflicts and such. This is a BIG idea—much, much bigger than DAWN, and I want to do it right.
That's all for now!
