It's happened just three times before, a writer winning both of the first novel awards in the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre.
Donald Kingsbury did it for his novel
Courtship Rite in 1983.
Michael Flynn did it in 1991 for his novel
In the Country of the Blind.
Naomi Novik did it two years ago for her novel
His Majesty's Dragon. And this year my novel
Singularity's Ring won both the
Compton Crook Award and the
Locus Award for Best First Novel.
Frankly, it's quite shocking. I didn't expect it. It's not something I have any control over. Yet, it's happened. Thank you to all the readers!
