No… my title does not refer to the physical geological reference, but rather, the tumultuous rift artificially created between Americans that has been purposely orchestrated by our so called Lords and rulers, the "Permanent Political Class."

In my research of story ideas, I peruse many blogs, online commentaries, and reports.  I am astounded at reading the pure hatred and totally misconstrued labeling each side of the political spectrum holds for the other. Bloggers on the so called left have branded conservatives as; homophobic, racists, anti-poor, lovers of the rich and mighty, while the bloggers on the so called right label their opponents as God-hating, fetus killing, Communists, hell bent on destroying America.

Where does this all stem from, and to what extent has this hurt us as a nation? In my opinion, this has been a cleverly conceived plan used by the Washington, DC establishment for as long as I have been following politics. It is a truly simplistic, yet totally effective means of perpetuating their control and maintaining their power structure by keeping us basically at each other's throats.  I know many Democrats who love the Lord, don't believe in abortion, and are heavily invested in the stock market! God forbid!  Likewise, I've been labeled a conservative, but I am friends with, and have known many souls who are gay. I believe in helping the down-trodden, and have a future son-in-law who is African-American. Hmm? So much for labels, huh? Sadly, too many Americans believe this tripe.

I read a great interview with Catherine Crier, who worked at CNN, MSNBC, and FOX. She nailed it perfectly.

"People tend to gravitate to those who reinforce their own opinions. Right now, politicians know that 'divide and conquer' is always the best tactic. And when you have a domestic economic crisis, the way they solidify their power is to demonize the other half. So right now, we have half the people in this country thinking the other half are enemies. That's insane. Politicians want to keep us divided. Because if we ever get the fact that it's the marriage, you actually might see the 99% of the country unifying to take responsible action to restore true capitalism and a true representative democracy in our government."  She also states her love of the John Adams quote. "Ideology is the science of idiots."

This brings me to my confession of an idiot. For years I identified myself as a staunch conservative and listened to "my media," or, the media that broadcast what I wanted to hear in order to validate my disdain of the so called "enemy."  Along with our politicians, the media is also complicit in the tactic of inciting their listeners on both sides of the spectrum. If you don't believe me, just watch, or listen to Chris Matthews, Glenn Beck, Keith Olbermann, or Sean Hannity.  They make a lot of money doing what the career politicians love for them to do; that is, keeping us divided. If were all to realize this, band together as one voice, the politicians in true fear would do what We The People wanted, and not their special interest.  we could rid ourselves of the corruption that is festering in D.C., America would once again be the shinning beacon it once was. Sadly, and I pray I'm wrong, I don't see it happening. We are too segmented as a people thanks to the few and powerful.

I've finally been able to shed that veil of partisanship and can now truly see through their ruse. Don't get me wrong! I'm not saying they are all the same. Just that they all are cleverly duping us. I believe in our system of capitalism and of less Government, so I know who so ever holds that belief will get my support be they a Democrat, Republican, or Independent. But with this current crop of misfits, the only difference I see between a Democrat and Republican… is the spelling.

My next posting will be on Occupy Wall Street. How they are missing the mark. Just follow the money people. From Corporations, Unions, professional anarchists in Vancouver. You'll be surprised where it leads.
