Life and Death

The poinsettia has died—
I tried.

Followed directions as best I could—
Any fool would.

Bathed it in natural light—
Warm and bright.

Watered it now and then—
Just say when.

Extra Christmas joy it brought—
I thought.

New Years Eve, don’t ever fret —
“A cup of kindness yet.”

Valentine’s Cupid launched his missile—
Made lovers smile.

Easter's promise. He cleansed our sins—
Everybody wins!

Saint Patrick’s Day, March’s say—
Corned beef okay?

Mother’s Day we all know—
Miss her so!

Memorial Day, too high a cost—
Young lives lost.

The poinsettia has died—
I tried.
