GoodReads v Amazon

I recently discovered GoodReads—and was shocked to discover that my novel, Broken Angels, had more reviews on it than on Amazon. Every copy I personally sell, I request/plead for an Amazon review—but over here on GoodReads, without any arm twisting, the readers do it all on their own. Thanks.

Curiously, Broken Angel’s overall rating is fully one star less here than on Amazon. Are GoodRead readers tougher critics? More discerning? More squeamish? More into happy endings?

One data point: My Goodreads reviewers are overwhelmingly women; the genders are more evenly matched on Amazon. I’d be curious to know if there were a marked gender difference in how the story impacts readers by gender.

Any thoughts?
