A Sad Condemnation of Today’s Values

I was watching the cricket and in a commercial break, I switched channels to Sky Sports News. There was a man from Arsenal Football Club being interviewed. The journalist asked him about——The transfer market and the representative said Arsenal needed a top-class defender but with only a meagre, yes, meagre £50 million they could not afford one!

I was left wondering how many football supporters condemn the governments they don’t support for not spending more money on the: The NHS, the Police, Fire Service, Schools, their local pop-in cafe, and the social club down the road, yet see nothing wrong with the football clubs they do support spending billions of pounds on someone who can kick a ball?

It’s a very strange and sad world where people put more value on popular sport than on real life.
