ICICLES The icicles dangle downwardReaching for the substantial snowEach drop bringing them closerAs the landscape merges into itselfIt is silent in its existenceUntil a raven reveals itselfWondering what’s in the trash Yet, the moment remains peacefulSitting and surveying in the chillAn instant promising potentialWhen there is no celerityWhen crackling fires callWhen surroundings are concealedSoon, the renewal will be revealedBut now it’s the stage of contemplation.For sustenanceFor solaceFor soulTo live on our abundance of the pastThis is the gift of the snowWhen we can replenish our heartsIn the silence of the icicles.
FREEDOM (Musings from the back of a Harley)The freedom of the blue skiesWelcome us warmly backOur path is asphaltOur vehicle a mechanical horseOur guide is the windLush green walls soarThe sun illuminates the wayOaks are waking up after a long napAnd I…I fill my soulWith nature’s flowering renewalBursting with beauty and abundance In the freedom of spring.
WHERE THE RIVERS MEET
Roaring white, pounding the graniteSwirling, swelling, splendorThe air is heavy with anticipationIt blows over me like a lover’s touchFilling my heart with sweet floral ecstasyI relax into the experienceEach breath carries away my worries My eyes fill with abandonmentAs the rushing liquid serenades meSinging the praise of this paradiseUntil the different directions converge After a brief resounding rumbleThey combine and continue on their way Leaving the moment where the rivers meet.
OCEANAs I sit perched up high on our lanaiComfortable on my recliner in the shadeThe ocean draws my gazeIts sapphire and emerald water calls meWhile the blue pool floats in its space—uninvitingI hear the sea’s song as it smashes onto the shoreThe surfers ride its motionThe snorkelers gaze into its depthAnd the swimmers float on its perceptionOur attraction is undeniableOpposites: one of air, one of waterIt beckons, and I must respondOffering myself up to the hidden worldUnder the cerulean summonI answer, embracing the ocean completely.
