When my daughter got a phone, she set up a reminder item for our family: at noon each day, it pings us with “LOVE YOU.”
This little reminder in the middle of the day often interrupts my flow, jogs me out of what I was doing and reminds me that I am so lucky to have a family that loves me.
It’s one of a million reminders that she set up on her own phone, that thankfully don’t show up on mine. Things like “RIP Antarcticite,” which I guess is a spoiler if you’re into the obscure anime that she’s into, and “Goodnight” which goes off at 9pm to reminder her that her phone wishes her a good night.
She went a little reminder-crazy. But it means a lot to me that she included this one for all of us. It’s the sort of un-cynical gesture of affection that you come to love from your kids.
I’m not much for daily inspirational quotes on Instagram or anything, but I do love my “Love You” reminder.
