why I wrote 'Mandy'

When I wrote this book I did so as a tribute to a place (Key West} where you can be yourself and where you are judged for the person you are inside, rather than how you look. The people of Key West are very good at telling if a person has a good heart and if so will welcome them into their community.
There are lots of books written about the emotional trauma of transitioning which can be quite depressing and have been covered by many authors far better than I could. So I wanted to write something that showed there was a positive side to being trans and that life could be fun. It was meant to be an enjoyable read and hopefully to illustrate the lighter side of being trans.
