Book 1, CLEAN, introduces Vortmit in a conspiracy thriller intended to be enjoyed in the series, but also as a stand-alone book. When I set out to write the story, I mapped a long story arc over five books. Vortmit's deeply personal motivations become clear in Book 2 and 3 as his ruthless behavior can be seen in the context of larger, sinister goals.
Much of CLEAN occurs on a barrier island off the coast of South Carolina called Sullivan's Island. I've been blessed to live in such a vibrant and creative community with my family in the salt and sand. In CLEAN, I describe an old jail in the island. It's current use is to house dogs that escape a leash. I've been asked if it exists, and my dog will tell you it does.
