Reissues: One published and one about to be
"All That Glitters" is back on Amazon, available now as a paperback as well as an e-book. I'm very relieved to see it again, as the publisher had red-flag problems with this book much earlier than with "Indelible."
It suddenly disappeared from Amazon about 2 years ago and never reappeared. Amazon told me it was the publisher's problem. The publisher had a long tale blaming Amazon. Regardless, the resolution occurred finally when Mundania Press closed and I got my rights back (requests were ignored before the closure, not only by me, but other Mundania authors.)
It's the only book I set in Arizona, where I lived for over a year. One location outside Phoenix that really interested me was the Superstition Mountains.
Weaver's Needle was always very visible, and extremely difficult to get to for anyone, even the most experienced hikers. Temperatures well into the 110 + degrees region and lack of water challenged those who wanted to find out whether legends of the Lost Dutchman Mine and Montezuma's treasure were merely fables. An old, abandoned mine sat close to the mountains, and tours were run that took us into an elevator and pitch-black mining tunnel that turned out to be at ground level.
The characters and setting came so easily to me, I was able to write my way through the first draft of "All That Glitters" in a relatively short period. Its first edition, from Awe-Struck, garnered 8 very positive reviews. One was the reviewer's top pick for that week.
The book is still timely and has a cast of eccentric secondary characters to enhance the ghost town setting. I still love the two protagonists, who mix like oil and water while sparks fly every time they come close to each other.
Holding the paperback version in my hand for the second edition of this book is like winning the lottery.
