Candle Magic

description
I'm researching legends and the basics of magic for my next novel and instead of pasting sticky notes all over the place, I'm organizing my research into easy to find blog posts on my Magic Board blog page.

When I gaze into candle light, the world turns quiet around me. The flickering flame casting long shadows lull me into a tranquil state of mind and triggers my imagination.

According to Sally Dubats in her book Natural Magick, "Candle magic consists of projecting the essence of an individual into a candle, and doing healing work for or drawing circumstances to that individual represented by the candle. Seeing an altar alive with several delicately flickering candles reflecting their light off a bell, crystal, wand, and cauldron while incense is burning is a near mystical experience."

I learned that there are 3 steps to take during candle magic:
1. Decide the magic you will perform.
2. Decide when to perform magic.
3. Select the appropriate candle color.
Performing candle magic requires great knowledge and years of practice, thus, I'm not planning to cast any spells or dabble into magic.
I do research and I will use bits of interesting parts in my future novels.

Candle colors and uses in candle magic

Black candles:
Black candles are used for protection spells. Also used for banishing, repelling negativity, for bringing creativity, binding, and shape-shifting (when taking the consciousness of an animal to see things from its perspective).
