My first post. Its been nearly two months since I published what I think of as THE BOOK (it looms in my mind in bold and in capitals). I have had some lovely responses. Its a new experience to have people who don't know me contact me and thank for producing a book that speaks to them, one lady told me she was going to lend my book to a friend, but wont part with it, 'its staying on my dresser'. Some of my colleagues both past and present have been the kindest and most generous with their comments, when you get good feedback from academics it feels quite special, we are often difficult readers to please, living and working with books as we do. Sadly, and not entirely unexpectedly, I have suddenly become invisible to a few people, but really if your more scandalised about the sex work than everything else in the book, it probably says more about your character than mine.Making Beds in Brothels: A Memoir
