It only takes a moment for everything to change...Excerpt:
“I am so glad this day is over!” I was thinking the same thing as we made our way through the door and headed toward the parking lot. “So, what are we doing this weekend?”
I smiled over at her. “Let’s go say bye to the guys then head over to my place. Chloe really wants to meet you. I think she wants confirmation about the Stacy fiasco.” We both started laughing.
I scanned the area when we entered the parking lot. It was still about three quarters of the way full. Everyone was milling around by their cars as they made plans for the weekend.
Conner was headed toward us when I finally saw him. I glanced behind him toward their truck and stopped dead in my tracks when I caught sight of the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. A spark run through my entire body and came to rest at my mark. My skin felt like it was humming, and my mark pulsed like it had its own heartbeat.
“Ari, are you okay?” Mazie had turned toward me when she noticed I was no longer moving. I was frozen. “Ari?” I could still hear her but everything around me was muffled by the intense feelings coursing through me.
“Un-freaking believable.” I don’t know if I said it out loud or not. Even if I did, I don’t know if anyone could’ve heard it.
Everything was still pretty hazy, and I was still frozen in place, staring into the gorgeous eyes of my mate when Conner finally made it over to us. “What’s wrong?”
I was about to answer, or attempt an answer that is, when I heard Colton’s tense voice.
“Con, you need to rein it in! Take control, man. There are too many people out here.” He looked over at who I could only assume was Falcon. “What’s wrong with him?”
The helplessness and concern in Colton’s voice woke me up. From where I was standing, I could see my newly found mate’s skin start to ripple. His wolf wanted out. Now. It didn’t matter how many people were about to bear witness.
“Conner, I need a distraction. Right now,” I gave him a pointed look and glances at Mazie. Knowing he would understand and try to keep her busy, I ran over to where Connell was and pushed Colton and Falcon out of the way. “Don’t touch him but be prepared.”
“What’s happening to him? We never lose control.”
“It will be alright Colt.” I hope. I got right in front of Connell and put my hands on his face knowing that skin-to-skin contact would help the most right now. “Look at me, Connell. Focus on my eyes.” His eyes were flashing gold. “Do you know who I am?” “Mine.”
