Nothing too dreadful, thankfully, just the daily grind grinding too hard. I'm more optimistic than I have been for a long time about more Reawakening, but it won't be any time soon. I want to get these current shorter WIPs done. If I can find my stride again, I'll reassess. I still want to tell the rest of their stories.
Sounds exciting and limitless. Best wishes for all your new endeavors and thanks so much for sharing.

An update! Yas!! Good you are doing better, take care of yourself! DPS sucks, I'm so sorry this is happening to you guys. I've been following the BS that they've been pulling with T.J. and I hope the transition to self-published goes smoothly for you. <3A Frost of Cares and Spindrift were both so delightfully creepy I kinda can't wait Something Wicked, you do horror very well! D:
I miss your dragons too, but I think if the last book had been Resistance I'd be devastated by the wait. Iskander's story was so grim (and beautiful, but fuck so grim!) and Recovery had a lot more room for hope and brevity. Also I've adored Raif since the beginning and it honestly gives me chills how you set up his arc. I reread Annie's grand reveal every now and again and marvel at how I never saw it coming and how perfect it was I can't help but feel satisfied. (For now at least XD )
Again take care of yourself, us loyal readers will still be here. <3

I'm relatively lucky insofar as I've been on hiatus so long my earnings have dropped and they only owe me a couple of hundred dollars. Others are suffering much worse.
I'm very proud of Something Wicked and really hope everyone likes it. It's so sad to be bringing it out under a shadow with all the shenanigans.
I'd originally planned for Raif's story to come before Iskandir's, but there was just too much unfinished business for it to work that way. Resistance was written with the knowledge that Arden was about to show up and change everything. Raif's arc was loosely in place from the point in Reawakening where he started talking about the Dual God and I suddenly realised that sequels were inevitable. Now, I don't want to give up, since I'm currently the only person, in or out of the story, who knows where Sharnyn is and his book would be the last in the series.

I have full faith Something Wicked is going to be amazing. I have it pre-ordered, and I hope to hell you see the profits from it.
Oh that makes sense because I went back to the first book and really started to pay attention to Raif with the full knowledge of how it was all going to play out and the ground work is all there.
I'm glad you bumped him to book three. I remember reading Resistance and his getting sick nearly breaking Iskandir it was so impactful and I was genuinely fearful for him because there where real stakes. I low key cried a lot with that book.
I am excited for more, I want justice for the Selkies and to know what happens to Pol and poor Phil... gah but I can wait. :D
I'm only discovered your books this year, but you've become one of my autobuy authors. I'm happy to hear positive things are happening for you and can't wait to see what new stories you have in store for us. Something Wicked sounds amazing and I wish it was out already. I hope to God DSP finally does the right thing and pays you what they owe--especially royalties for the new book.

Under normal circumstances, it would take me three or four months to pay that back, so I'm not going to worry about it for the first quarter.
I'm working on two projects at the moment and editing a third, so there will be new things out there soon, once I've learned to negotiate this new publishing landscape.

I look forward to reading your new book :)
I miss your dragons the most, but I understand sometimes muse doesn't cooperate! Whatever you write, i am sure it will be a delight to read, I like everything you write, contemporary, fantasy, doesn't matter. :)
