Yesterday, September 18, the U.S. Air Force enjoyed a birthday. It's 72nd birthday, to be exact. However, the military air branch has gone through several names over the years, even since World War I. They include the Air Service of the US Army, the Air Corps and even the Army Air Force.
But finally, in 1947, President Harry Truman signed the National Security Act, thus establishing the United States Air Force as a separate and unique branch of our U.S. military.
So, it is our pleasure here at the 59 Veterans to offer a hearty shout--out and Happy Birthday to the United States Air Force. To Air Force veterans past and present, we thank you for your service and salute you! 🇺🇸️💖🇺🇸️
