If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you may know that I’m a fan of the YA Scavenger Hunts. They’re a fun way to learn about new authors (and for authors to find new readers!)

The YA Scavenger hunt is a bi-annual event, organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes!

On this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 120 hours!

There are FOUR contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the RED TEAM–but there is also a gold team, a blue team, and a purple team for a chance to win a whole different set of books!

HARBOR FOR THE NIGHTINGALE

“An outstanding alternative history series entry and a must-have for teen libraries.” —School Library Journal

London, 1814. Emperor Napoleon has forced Europe to its knees, and now he plots to seize control of Britain. Maya Barrington, one of Miss Stranje’s unusual girls, must act as a double agent and use her extraordinary gift of persuasion to thwart Napoleon’s scheme.

Maya brought the mystery of India with her . . .

Maya comes from two different worlds. Her mother was a Maharaja’s
daughter, but her father was an English Lord. After her mother died her father took
her away from the warmth of India to cold inhospitable London. She was not
welcomed. Especially by her prejudiced stepmother, who sent Maya away to
Stranje House, a reform school known for its harsh discipline.

Except the school’s dark reputation hides the truth, that the
headmistress, Miss Stranje, is actually training these unusual young ladies to
enter the dangerous world of spies, diplomacy, and war.  Stranje House is
the perfect place for Maya—she finally carves out a sense of belonging among
these brilliant outcast girls.

To protect the friends she now holds dear, and to keep Napoleon and his ruthless spies from destroying the world she has grown to love, Maya must enter this treacherous game on the arm of the ellusive Lord Kinsworth. She can read almost everyone—not so with this young rascal. Quick with a jest and armed with lethal charm, Kinsworth remains just beyond her reach. But with Britain’s future at risk and those she loves in deadly peril, can she dare trust him?

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

Maya hears the world in addition to seeing it. For her, there is
music in everything.

At times when she hears Lord Kinsworth’s inner
music, and this is the piece that inspired me during many of those scenes.

I love the cello, the sound is so rich and
full. Close your eyes and just enjoy this beautiful selection from one of the
world’s foremost cellists:

Maya believes there are invisible ties between
people who have deep relationships. The words in this song are absolutely
magical and reflect many of Maya’s emotions.
