My name is Dee Patrick and I have just published my first novel on Amazon and have become an author on Goodreads.

Dark Detained, the first novel I have completed and published, has been coming for over thirty years. I always wanted to write a complete novel and was encouraged to do so by my colleagues (who happen to be K12 educators) as they read samples of my writing in technical papers and articles in several newsletters and periodicals within our organization.

I would get to about fifty pages or so, and the story idea would just dry up. I remembered something I'd heard a long time ago that a writer should start with what they know. Well, two years ago, I began Dark Detained, using my old neighborhood as the setting and people I knew and grew up with to base the characters on. Well, this time, the story flowed and flowed and, before you knew it, I had a complete manuscript.

I am very excited about it and I hope to generate interest in it as my dream is to be a professional author. I am currently working on three other projects and should have those published in the near future.

Dark Detained is a science-fiction novel centered around Louis Castellano, who is a forty-five years old telling the story from when he was sixteen years old in 1976. He's a typical inner city teen with friends, a love interest and a band he is excited to be in. Soon, frightening images and experiences begin to plague him and he and his friends are thrown into a battle that can have worldwide consequences.Dark Detained
