Ursula K. Le Guin

Since her birthday would have been on Monday, I listened to Ursula K. Le Guin's "The Fliers of Gy" tonight while unwinding from work and doing crafts.

As always when I sit down with her work, I mourn for her again. But I'm also, every time, thankful for the gifts she has left us. Her writing always moves me and always, always makes me think.

So here's to Ursula.

(The recording I listened to can be found here: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/stit... I highly recommend sticking around for the conversation afterwards, too. For eye-readers: The Unreal and the Real: Selected Stories, Volume Two: Outer Space, Inner Lands)).)

Alex Bright I am so glad I was introduced to her work this year. The Left Hand of Darkness quickly cemented itself as one of my favourite novels of all time, and I plan on continuing through her Hainish Cycle books. She was a genius who understood the nuances of humanity and translated that into the profound artistic prose of her stories.

I love The Left Hand of Darkness so, so much. It was my first Le Guin and I remember just marveling at the ideas and the prose.

Sarah She's 100% one of my favourite authors now. I just wish I had read some of her books sooner. The Left Hand of Darkness & The Dispossessed will stay with me forever.
