Musings on a ten-year cancerversary

I recently had a big celebration, (ten-years cancer-free, baby!) and wrote a post that was semi-popular giving the scope on what it really means to be cancer-free (it’s not all gumdrops and roses). I thought I’d share here, in case you’re interested.

John Waite Wish I could say that, but after almost twenty years since the diagnosis I still have to deal with the presence of the disease. The knowledge that it exists pops up at peculiar times and places, and creates a seam in my reality. It's important that I am still here, if for no other reason than personal affirmation.

That presence is so haunting...good things can come from it for sure, but that doesn't take away from the awful nature of the beast. Bless you for holding strong.
