First post-- what I'm doing
Well,let me first say thanks for this opportunity. I like to explore writing issues as I write, but I have a terrible memory for such things (not to mention for where I left my keys or what I'm doing here in the laundry room :). So maybe writing down what happened today in crafting the book will help me remember and understand and learn from the experience!
Right now I'm mostly editing my older Regencies and my writing book for Kindle. I'm enjoying the process, updating the stories a bit, powering up the prose where I can. I don't want to change TOO MUCH, but I have to admit, I've been itching to compress the opening of a couple of these books (I used to be a far more leisurely writer, LOL), so I've done that. I was pleasantly surprised to realize they have held up well, though the omniscient perspective of The Reluctant Lady might not go over well today. It's right for the Regency genre, though, I think, as it echoes Austen's ironic narrative distance.
Anyway, if you're interested, the books are:
The Wilder Heart, a Regency novella.
The Reluctant Lady, a Regency novel.
Royal Renegade, a Regency novel.
Poetic Justice, a Regency novel.

Hey, I just realized I can use italics and such in this blog. Will do in future. :)

I for one am a huge fan of omniscient POV and used it in several of my early books before learning that's wrong. I have since come to terms with the fact that I'm a throwback, lol. I don't think you need to worry about The Reluctant Lady, especially since it's a re-release.

Do you know anything about these goodreads blogs? I'm being told you can't google-reader it or RSS it, and I'm just lost! Help me, Jaimey! Or anyone. The settings are not helpful here.I love omniscient too. Heyer used it all the time. How bad can it be???

The settings are not helpful here."I think if you click the tiny RSS thingy located right here just under "Alicia Rasley's profile," it will take you to the RSS page. Copy the address in the address bar and feed that into whatever it is that requires the RSS feed. I think that will work. Not entirely sure...
I use blogspot for my blog, then I have it feed to my Goodreads profile, so I'm just guessing here. :O)
Google Reader does not recognize either the home page for the blog or the RSS page (which has an error message) as valid for a subscription.
Jude, so what do I do? I kind of get all panicky and helpless with such problems. (That said, I can fix too-salty soup! Just learned that. A teaspoon of peanut butter! It's some chemical process, and it works, and you can't taste the peanut butter. Cooking doesn't cause that sense of helplessness with me.)
