Some Updates
I know some of you have been waiting to hear word on Teresa's story. You'll be happy to know it's almost ready to be published. I’m just waiting on final word from my sensitivity readers.
Because I am who I am, it’s not really like the last book I did—or the one before that. What can I say, I’m all over the place.
This one is a bit more emotional. It’s not a tragedy. It’s not about sexytimes. It’s simply a soft romance that develops from an unexpected friendship.
Like all romances, there’s a bit of wish fulfillment. The world is a little nicer, the people are luckier, and maybe things are a bit easier than they would be for most people in reality. I think a little escapism isn’t a bad thing.
As a Latina, I pride myself on writing Latina women as central characters. Teresa is also trans.
As many transgender people will tell you… there is no one universal experience. It’s different for everyone, though there are some common factors. Teresa isn’t meant to show the experience for all transgender women. Reality is complicated. Rather, she’s meant to be a glimpse into what the experience could be like for *some* trans women.
There are some things I felt I couldn’t cover in this book. More trans authors need to be published. Still, I hope some non-cis readers might see themselves a little in this book, and that it makes them happy.
Mostly, I hope this book emotionally reaches as many people as possible, as is my silent hope with every one I publish.
