Spring for Your Heart

“God, you are my God; I eagerly seek you; I thirst for you; my body faints for you in a land that is dry and desolate, and without water.” Psalm 63:1
God is the One who will do the transforming in your heart. You don’t have to transform yourself. He is the One who will bring spring to your heart. Today allow your heart to soak in His presence, trusting Him with the transformation you long for.
When hints of spring are beginning to bloom outside, something inside us often longs to bloom as well. God designed us to want to grow spiritually. Something inside us wants to deepen our roots in His Word, wants to flourish as His daughters, wants to thrive in the roles He’s established for us, wants to love and live well, and wants to grow in His grace. But as you and I both know, sometimes we feel stuck.
Instead of growing, we feel like we’re wilting a bit. Instead of thriving, we feel like we’re trapped in busy mode. Instead of blooming, we feel like we’re just going through the motions.
God loves to blossom spring in our hearts.
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekial 36:26
He is the One who loves to bring our hearts fresh hope, unveil within us a newness, delight us with His nearness and love, uproot the gunk in our hearts that’s suppressing our joy, and bring beauty and light to our hearts like nothing else in the world can bring. And He’s the One who put that desire for transformation inside us.
Take a look at Philippians 2:13: “For it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”
God’s Spirit is moving in each of us to help us want His will and to work for His good pleasure. That desire for change or transformation inside you is a beautiful gift from God because it will lead to His best for you.
But here’s the sweet thing: we don’t have to manufacture spring in our hearts. We don’t have to force the blooming. God is the One who does the growing, transforming, and flourishing.
“We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.”
By His grace and love, He nurtures the soil of our hearts as we lean on Him. He prepares our hearts for growth, He digs in our souls to encourage us, and He develops the fruit in our character – He is the Master Gardener of your heart and soul.
How does it encourage you today to remember that you do not have to do the transforming?
