Instincts vs. Intuition

Instincts are the desire to do something because it feels natural or helpful. They are innate patterns or behaviors for survival.

Intuition is the premonition about doing something. According to the Oxford Dictionary, intuition is defined as “the ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.”

Intuitive vs. Psychic

The terms intuition and psychic are often used interchangeably, however there is a difference.

Intuition is the initial awareness or knowing of an outcome, while a psychic receives more details and information.

Examples:

You are psychic if you look at a photograph of a deceased person and receive a flood of details about their life before you even know their name. You are psychic if you know the name of a stranger’s loved one. Deceased or alive. (Some psychics are mediums for the dead and others are mediums for the living.)You are intuitive if you choose to steer clear from someone because you feel there is something off about him or her, eventually proving correct. You are intuitive if you know there is something wrong with your car.

You cannot be psychic without being intuitive, but you can be intuitive without being psychic.

One is not better than the other. They just offer different results, especially when working with people.

We might not always feel intuitive, but there are ways we can improve our abilities. So, how can we develop our intuition?

Be open: Be open to what you are feeling. It might feel ridiculous to constantly check in with your emotions, but the more you do it the more it becomes second nature. Please be aware of judgments of people based on sex, race, creed, etc. This is not intuition.Know yourself: While this may seem odd considering you live with your body 24/7, it is very important to be comfortable in your own skin. You don’t have to be the most confident person alive, but you must feel comfortable with how your body responds to people or energy.Trust: As they say, practice makes perfect. When you are more open to your feelings, start trusting them. Commit to your inner knowing.

Sometimes, a sudden rush of knowledge might take us aback. Not all of us were taught that these feelings were to be validated or worked with. When you start trusting your abilities, you will be open to the most beautiful guidance and messages that help you lead the way for yourself and others.
