I just started this book and wanted to say that the starting author's note was close to home for me and I've taken a similar action to deal.

You've written something with soul in it, and even with stumbles, your work is spectacular. The absolute best thing I've ever heard from any author is your author's note intros. Never change or shrink from those as they set you apart in a great way.
The story is immersive and worth every minute.

Thanks so much for this! It genuinely means the world to me. And if you've got a similar situation, I hope you find your escape too. The world can be a hard, dark place, and sometimes it feels like a long stretch between the lamp posts. But it can be a little better if you figure out a way to bring your own light. Thanks again!
