Reddit really is the best for free books!

Yeah so I'm just gonna jump right into here: I didn't expect there to be so many people into books on Reddit!

I'll give you a real quick rundown. Yesterday I made a book free on Amazon (I want to make it perpetually free too but there doesn't seem to be a way). It's a short story, and I often heard about how those don't sell and stuff. Also, the genre is a bit niche, so I didn't have any hope for it or anything. I posted a few times on Reddit Free Book subs, talking about the book and whatnot, then head to sleep with no expectation of anything other than taking my sister to Baskin Robbins tomorrow.

When I woke up, the whole thing blew up! It climbed to #4 in Literary Short Story and #1 in 30-minute Literary Short Reads on Amazon. I couldn't believe my eyes, holy cow, then I headed to KDP and saw 400 downloads and counting for that title overnight. I'm a brand new author, and I've never seen such numbers in my adept Amazon publishing experience of 2 weeks. My book has no reviews, and I only have 2 books in my portfolio. I don't know why so many people gave it a spin. Maybe because it was really short? Maybe the synopsis pulled them in? I don't know. I just know that I'm kinda happy right now.

Note that because I made the book free, it appeared on the free chart where there's less competition. Also, I made $0 worth of sales, maybe apart from a slight boost in confidence.

Anyone else have gotten success with posting their books on Reddit subs? Or was I just really lucky? Please let me know :)

Vidhi Your post makes me want to use reddit! (Also, you can put your book free on Amazon if it is available widely on other platforms as well such as Apple, Kobo etc. You have to use the Price Match option!)
