Some book recommendations for lockdown
Hi all - I hope you're safe and well.
I put out a newsletter recommending some of my favourite books yesterday; I'm reproducing it below because this is definitely the time to curl up with a good book.
These are NOT affiliate links and I have NO connection to the authors. They're just books I enjoyed and am passing on in case you do too.
If you want to join my mailing list to get future posts first, you can sign up at http://bit.ly/freedarkromance - where you'll also get the first chapter of CAPTURED and join my freebies list to get FOUR FREE taboo titles from bestselling short story author L.A. Cox.
Without further ado, here are my book recommendations to keep you occupied and distracted:
SMUT
Roni Loren, the Into You series
I found the first one of these by chance and was drawn in by the good writing. I stayed for the smut, and then for the cast of characters, which grows with each book. These are BDSM Dom/sub novels, each following female and male MCs as they meet, do dirty things and overcome obstacles… all against the background of The Ranch, the exclusive BDSM resort in Dallas, Texas. If The Ranch were real, I’d move to Texas tomorrow – so that might just hint at how much I enjoyed these books.
Jade West, Bait
Jade West is my favourite British smut writer and this is my favourite title of hers. I won’t go into detail except to say it’s as filthy and dark as all her books are… and in some cases more so. Check out her back catalogue too; she’s written a lot.
Pauline Réage, The Story of O
Dated but rightly considered a classic, the French tale of a woman learning to submit.
OTHER FICTION
Marian Keyes, Watermelon
All Marian Keyes’ hilarious and touching books can be read as standalones, but I recommend starting with Watermelon, the first in the Walsh family series, and working your way through. I’ve cried with laughter reading her work.
LM Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
If you’ve never read it, now’s the time.
Agatha Christie, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
Like Marian Keyes, Agatha Christie is a great author to get into if you want to lose yourself in many books. Start with The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, in my and many others’ opinion Christie’s best book, then delve into the other Poirot books and the Miss Marples (try The Body in the Library first, or The Moving Finger).
Stephen King, Night Shift
A great starter book if you’ve never read King before. Don’t be put off by the idea of ‘horror’ – many of his stories aren’t, and at least one in this book is so tender it might make you cry.
I hope these recommendations are useful to you. Whether you need distracting or not, they're all excellent books and perfect for curling up with.
Let me know what you think; I'd love to hear your opinions!
Stay happy, stay safe, stay filthy (in mind if not in body),
