Covid Illogic 9. The Spinning Ferrets Of The Apocalypse. Take Two
It’s not for me to criticise the logic evading missile system that the President deploys more often than his military, nor his often erratic psychiatric flightpaths, paths which leave Whitehouse aids stuttering wrecks, nor his latest defence of Presidential sarcasm, which is obviously what America needs in the face of of a public health, pandemic, economic nightmare. No why criticise the obvious. Yet with the British silently incompetent and trying to hide the fact, Trump seems to be coming to the rescue of Boris Johnsons cabinet, because however you may feel about it, they are not as bad as Donald is. Really, it’s that simple. A pandemic comedian is in charge of a superpower. In the 17th century a popular cure-all was a mercury enema whilst bleeding the patient to get the blood flowing, which is concept so scary that it could possibly make a corpse jump up and run away from any 17th century medic, but low and behold, Donald had to go one better.
“Light yes you were talking about light? Which was very interesting.”
Before I write any more I arrived at the Trump press conference video backwards, having read an unfathomable Guardian article about it, and guess what? It doesn’t make sense forwards or backwards, and neither did the Guardian article. Which is what happens when an otherwise sane journalist tries to write about the insane. I know nuts when I see it, but I am worried by the fact that it may take one to know one. Maybe I have gone crazy? Or maybe I always have been? This President is crackers, am I alone in seeing that? Drink disinfectant? I believe the medical term for that is embalming. Plus the Coronavirus is not that sensitive to UV light, if it was, it wouldn’t have lasted five minutes, let alone caused global human chaos. In the beginning there was light. At the end there was Trump. Having fired almost every scientific advisor, he decisively decided to cease American government funding for the World Health Organisation. What his next move will be is beyond any math to figure out, and any usual journalistic sentence about the pandemic would include. “Seeing how the pandemic unfolds in America.” Whereas in truth. We will all see how it unravels, probably from the top down. Journeying onto our social media could also result in insanity too. Everybody is pointing out how they do it in Sweden, or their pet fave country, and lets face it New Zealand seems to have a sane Prime Minister, which is probably more helpful than any other factor I can see. Although the online misogynists hate her guts, it does seem that calmly dealing with the new reality gets better results than a drama queen in a suit can. In fact the female world leaders seem to be doing a better job than their male counterparts, but none of the other leaders are failing quite like Trump is, which makes them all look a bit better.

It’s here that I get to the point of all these words. Most politicians and their staff are getting in the way of the science, and the necessary pandemic/epidemic responses. The virus is running rings around us at this time, mainly because a large chunk of the global response to this outbreak has been political, technically ego driven hot wind combined with well rehearsed power walking. Look around you where you live, if your government has taken action to protect you, that is a good thing, but if I look at Britain, where we have a pandemic curve algorithm graph based primarily on inaccurate death statistics, no mapping, or tracing, or large scale testing, where the epidemiological science has been reduced to a your guess is as good as mine is, then it is clear that the political’s of all parties should step back and allow the environmental health, epidemic health and experts take on the virus, whilst the politicians can focus on the economy. Believe me when I say that science will tackle the current pandemic, it will save lives, but it has got to be unleashed from the constraints of often misguided politicians who just love the limelight. What the human world needs right now is good science, not career minded or crazy politicians.
