Cancelling history: really, really, really bad idea

Dear Young People:

One cannot learn from history while systematically cancelling/erasing history.

One cannot simultaneously hate America while being be pro-North when it comes to Civil War history/statues. One cannot have it both ways.

One cannot simultaneously hate the South (of then and now) as being rebels/un-American, while believing the USA had any power over those sovereign states. Either those states were/are USA or they weren’t. One cannot have it both ways.

Speaking of which, one also should not be ignorant of the massive states’ rights v. federalism issues of the Civil War.

Lastly, every monument regarding either side of the Civil War was part of a sincere and expensive effort to repair the USA after its most horrific tear.

Erasing that part of our history (the repair effort) is one of the worst ideas in the whole history of bad ideas.

Sincerely,

Pastor Doug Joseph
