Well, we’re over halfway through 2020, and I think I can honestly say: What the fuck.

It’s been an absolutely shitstorm for everyone I know, and the lucky ones who have jobs and job security and healthy selves and families are the ones who are only anxious and worried and confused.  At least, I think that’s fair to say.  I’ve had one conversation with someone who was deluded into thinking this was all a conspiracy and all I can say is I had to walk away from that conversation super fast to maintain my sanity.

Okay, there was chaos and upheaval in my life before this year started, but now there’s a whole perspective thing that wasn’t there before.

It’s honestly been a rough couple of years for me.  Good in a lot of ways, but “interesting” and “adventure” are also words that apply, and in some cases I would have been happy to not apply them.  I am doing okay, I’m lucky, I’m safe, but I can’t say I ain’t shook.

So between one thing and another, the writing was set aside, in a lot of ways.  Oh, I’ve been WRITING, I just haven’t been doing anything else much — you know, that other stuff you gotta do, like editing and getting cover art and, gah, promotions.  Or whatever.  I guess you don’t HAVE to do it — I’m certainly proof that you can just keep writing and that’s okay, too.  But I’m also trying to get some things together that can take me forward in a writing career.

One of my friends who does graphic design got laid off a few months ago.  So I’ve been working with him to get new covers for the Safe Words series.  Lord knows I love the friend who did the original covers for free, since that’s what I could afford at the time, but now it’s time to invest in some covers that look a little bit more like what they are.  Sexy, sexy kink stories.  I love some black satin.  And after that we’ve gone ahead and done a cover for a collected volume of all three stories, so that will be available soon.  If you haven’t read them yet, hold out for the bargain deal!

I also got off my ass (actually I didn’t literally get off my ass) and finished the Beast’s Curse series.  It’s 5 parts, and the first three are already on Amazon.  Part 4 (Beauty in Crimson) is with my editor now, and I’m working on the second draft of part 5 (Beauty’s Shadow).  So they should also be available in the next few months, as things fall into place.  (Watch for rolling freebie promotions!)

And in the meantime, I’ve released a non-erotic fairy tale romance, a cross between Ricky of the Tuft and The Green Serpent, just because why always use the same 12 fairy tales that everyone already knows?  If you’re familiar with either of those, extra kudos to you.  I love the hell outta some obscure fairy tales.  And while I do think it’s a sweet story (which I hope you’ll enjoy), I’m excited to get back to some spicier stuff over the next few months.
