Romance Readers

How Lulu Lost Her Mind by Rachel Gibson A lot of you want to know if I'm going to write romance novels again. I wish I had a clear answer, but it depends ...
I love the romance genre. That's why I wrote 20 romance books and 4 novellas. I owe my career and livelihood to romance readers. I am not an author who will ever say that I got tired of writing romance and moved on to bigger things. For one, that's not true, and two, it's dismissive and disrespectful to all the readers who have supported my work for eighteen years.
The truth is that I simply ran out of ideas for romance books--or any books, for that matter. It was not a choice that I made. I did not wake up one day and say, "Hey, I'm going to flush my successful career down the crapper and start all over in another genre."
One of my biggest frustrations is that I only get one story idea at a time. I'd love to have several rattling around in my head. I envy those authors who have lots of ideas to choose from, but that is not my brain. The book I am currently working on is another women's fiction. But . . . I am a romance writer at heart and all of my books will have threads of the genre that I've always loved.
So, will I ever write a romance book again? If I get an idea for another romance novel, I'd love to write it.

Muriel I have always loved your books. Your characters are quirky and real, and I care about what happens to them. I just finished "How Lulu Lost Her Mind" and I loved it just as much. Patricia reminds me of my mother-in-law, so I completely relate to how much Lou Ann loves her and is exasperated by her at the same time. As one of your long-time readers, I don't care which genre you write in. Just please keep writing!

Colantha Amo I love your books, especially your voice. Its so light and happy when I read the voices of the characters in my head. I think if you find it hard to write lately more romance, I am a fan who is willing to wait a bit and read the new stuff you are writing. Itll come back or it might not, but your voice is really strong and honestly, I find you help me with my voice in my writing because of how strong you write. Good luck with the Women's fiction.
