Do motives matter?

Motives are important in the Christian life. However, a perpetual introspection and self-analysis of one's motives is not what the Scripture encourages. Rather, it exhorts us to be men and women of character.

"The individuals in the hall of faith are not there because of the tenacity of their 'desire for God'. They are there because their faith showed itself in obedience." (p. 61)
