Horns of the Hunter – 1st Draft Finished

Word.

So, as the title says (and some among you may already know), I finished the 1st draft of Horns of the Hunter just over a week ago (the early hours of 10/08/2020 to be exact). Last week was something of a rest week for me, taking it all in etc, but man does it feel good to be getting books written once again.

I’m aiming to get the book out this year, but we’ll see. Somehow it’s ended up being late August already. I’m currently whizzing through redrafts and splitting my manuscript out into chapters. What started as a short story is now a 62,000 word full length novel, and it will be the next book I publish. I’ve chosen a cover artist and I’m awaiting initial sketches, but the cover art will remain secret ahead of pre-order.

Also, it will be the first in a series of shorter works called Tales of Luah Fáil.

Speaking of shorter works, now that this book’s process is nearing conclusion, I’m returning to my severely-neglected Tales of the Blackshield Dogs series. Namely, finishing the first draft of The Wretched Ones, a novella I wanted to have out years ago, before circumstance interfered and messed up all my writing plans. Providing all goes well with redrafting Horns of the Hunter, I’ll be aiming to have the first draft of The Wretched Ones finished in a few of months – writing time being limited atm due to the intensity of redrafting I’m doing.

And what of In His Darkened Halls, I hear you say? Well, that’s coming too. I’ve made something of a decision recently regarding both the book, the final book of the trilogy and the series as a whole that I will (probably) announce sometime soon (as in, next blogpost. Maybe). But yes, its still in the works, and yes, I will be publishing it. Just not this year, unfortunately. It’s an enormous book and its going to take a hell of a lot of work to get it into something readable.

Anyhoo, that’s all for now, I’ll be back with an update on Horns of the Hunter re: release etc etc etc yadda yadda soon. For now, I’ll leave you with my customary choice of writing (redrafting?) music. No giant leeches this time, just an excellent piece of (controversially genre’d, apparantly) post-black metal, whose lyrics and theme somewhat echo those of Horns of the Hunter.
