Who likes candles?

Can I raise my hand any higher?! If you don’t already know this about me, I love burning candles while reading, writing books, editing books, and watching movies. It provides a cozy atmosphere. So what are bookish candles? These are candles that are based on literature such as classics, YA, romance, fictional characters, settings, etc. You name it and it’s probably out there!

Where can you find these bookish candles?

Etsy is a great place to begin your search because it gives you a taste of what is available and within your budget. Want to support local bookish shops? No problem! Just filter your search beforehand.

How do I know if I’ll like a scent?

Read the description and reviews to get a sense (or scents, ha!) of what the company’s candles are like. Also, inquire about their return policy in case it doesn’t meet your expectations.

I’m an avid reader, but I don’t know why I’d want to buy candles.

To each their own! I enjoy the atmosphere that candles create while reading. For example, I have a Midnight Sun candle that I plan to burn while I read the book because the scent is fun for ambiance. Plus, these candles look really pretty when they are placed next to their corresponding book or series on a bookshelf.

Which shops do you recommend?

I live in Canada, so I shop for candles that are sold here (it’s more affordable shipping-wise). Some of my favourite candle shops include:

Library Lights

TimelessPrintsCA

Ex Libris Supply Co / Folklore Candle Co

Beccas Little Boutique

But there are TONS of fantastic candle shops outside of Canada as well. So what are you waiting for? Search around for a company that you like. Autumn is coming and now is the perfect time to stock up on your new favourite scents!
