They're releasing the Snyder cut and now I have to eat a shoe
Warner Brothers and DC recently announced that they are going to release the Snyder cut under the title of Zach Snyder's Justice league. This whole time I thought that was a myth. I thought DC fanboys made it up to stoke controversy out of disappointed rage. A notable highlight of this is when honest trailers released an honest trailer for the Snyder cut as an April fools joke and they described an array of ridiculous and fantastical things that would be in the movie. This lead me to believe that the whole thing was a joke. But now it's real and the Snyder cut is coming to the new streaming service HBO max in 2021. I've been playing with the idea of buying HBO max I'm not sure if I'll get it or not. Now a brief history of how we got here. In 2017 during the post production process of the Justice League movie Zach Snyder's daughter suffered from depression and committed suicide. RIP I hope all the involved parties including family and friends had enough time to mourn properly. But as a result of this as well as some creative differences with the studio Zach Snyder left the project. In his wake the Studio brought in Joss Whedon to direct some reshoots and editing. In and of itself I think this was a good choice I'm a fan of Joss and think he can make a good movie. I think if he was set to direct a justice league movie from the start it would have worked really well but that's not what happened. In the midst of reshooting and editing they tried to drastically change the movies tone and this is how the movie became so disappointing. The end product is a tepid seesawing two hours that goes between incredibly dark moments to humorous moments in the worst way possible. I must say that when I saw it in theatres I was quite disappointed. Fast forward to now and apparently through all of this Zach still has a vastly different imagining of the film. Now's he's had enough time to compile all of his original footage and edit it into a movie that is supposedly three hours in length and is something Warner Brothers wants to release into the world. I reluctantly saw the trailer for this thing and I was surprised. The trailer consisted of mostly footage from the trailers of the original Justice League movie that wasn't in the original movie. We also got a brief look at Dark Seid. When I saw the trailer I was actually excited to see the finished product. It's like they new exactly what to show me to get me excited. I've given DC a lot of chances in the past and I don't know if I'm ready to give them another one this time. I liked some of the movies they've released since Justice league like Shazam, Joker, and Birds of Prey. But after all this time am I really supposed to believe that a movie can be fixed by the original vision of a guy who gave us an unexciting Man of Steel movie and the blasphemy that is Batman V Superman. I don't know. What do you guys think? Will the Snyder cut restore my faith in DC or will it be a big turd? Let me know in the comments
