November. Tis the season. At least here in the northern hemisphere. To turn inward, to go down into the mental basement and talk sense once more to those Muse girls who’ve been getting up to mischief. To turn focus back to creating new work. To the spirit of NaNoWriMo. And the spirit of Stephen King’s words in On Writing : 'I believe the first draft of a book — even a long one — should take no more than three months…Any longer and — for me, at least — the story begins to take on an odd foreign feel, like a dispatch from the Romanian Department of Public Affairs, or something broadcast on high-band shortwave during a period of severe sunspot activity.'
