View from my coffee cup

Back in the day (ten months ago), when my friends and I eat in restaurants, we blessed our meal and banished unseen impurities into oblivion where they belong. Today, we no longer get together in restaurants, and, when we venture outdoors, we pray our face masks and sanitizers block the current unwanted virus from entering our bodies.

But seriously, fear surrounds us, going out and coming in, and the mere thought of contracting this virus overwhelms us. I say, cast fear into oblivion and proceed with caution.

I was annoyed with myself when I requested the barista at my local coffee shop wash her hands before making my coffee (something I never thought of asking back in the day, ten months ago).

The cashier at my local food store (whose smokers cough never bothered me back in the day, ten months ago) became an issue when I walked up to her check-out station and heard her let out one of her familiar smokers coughs.

I hate to be so suspicious of the people I know and respect.

But, it is what it is (a term that drives me crazy). I hope each of your back in the day moments will be great memories, though it truly is what it is.
