November went more or less as expected. I didn’t write at all the first week, with the election going on (was that really only a month ago?!), and afterward, I struggled with rewriting the first chapter of BLOOD OF SALT, TEARS OF PEARL, but I eventually got all the pieces smashed together in a coherent way and have now nearly finished Chapter 2. I had wanted to get to the end of Chapter 4 by now, but of course I’m even slower than my most conservative estimates of how much I thought I could write this month. I am hopeful that things will pick up, but with the uncertainty around COVID-19 and school closures and the upcoming holidays, I’m not sure how much I’m actually going to be able to write, but that’s okay. I’d rather write less than stress about how much I “should be” writing on top of everything else I’m stressed about.

Plans for December:

I expect more of the same for December, with the goal to complete the first five chapters by the end of the year. That’s just three chapters to rewrite between now and then, so I’m hopeful that I will be able to do that, even with the holidays. I think one of the most difficult chapters is behind me now, so hopefully the rewriting process goes a little more smoothly going forward, at least for a little while. It would be nice to have some easier chapters after that headache of a first chapter.

 

Writing Talks:

I wasn’t able to do many Writing Talks in November due to a variety of things, including the election, kiddo home sick from school, and the Thanksgiving holiday last week, but I did manage to squeeze one talk into my schedule.
