Someone asked over on Twitter if we writers had LGTBQ+ characters in our stories and if they were originial to the story or added later for marketing's sake.
My answer is yes and no! I have a bi woman and a gay man, both heroes. Since my novel's inception some 20 years ago, they've always been a part of the story. Unfortunately, with re-writes and remapping of the story arc, they don't get screen time until what is now Book 2 and later.
I also have characters who resemble Africans, Asians, Middle Eastern as well as White. Countries reflected in the saga mirror Africa, Tibet, Morocco, Norway, Mongolia as well as Indiana/Illinois, New England, the Dakotas, and good, ol' Medieval Western Europe. Love and marriage in my world encompasses all. Prejudice in my world stems more from the possess of magical powers or the lack of it.
