“Death hovers over this powerful novel.”
I’m delighted to see a review of my novel Prodigal, due to be published in the United States on 12 January, in The Gay and Lesbian Review, and even more delighted that the reviewer, Nils Clausson, found so much to like in the novel, which he describes as “Powerful… an artful hybrid of parable (as the title signifies), a Freudian family romance, a Gothic tale, and a Künstlerroman in the tradition of James Joyce’s Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.”
The first part of the review, entitled Finding One’s Inner Hawthorne, is available here. To read the rest of the review you’ll have to subscribe to the G&LR, something you won’t regret, believe me.
And remember, if you’d prefer to listen to the novel, the audio version, beautifully read by Matthew Lloyd Davies, is available here.
