Writing Updates – Jan 2021

Hello all. Belated happy New Year! Just a little writing update from me, as it’s been a couple of months (again. Sorry, it’s been a crazy/grim end of year for me.)

Horns of the Hunter‘s progress hit a bit of a delay last month, unfortunately. On the cusp of finishing up the 3rd draft, I ended up in hospital for a week and missed the entirety of Christmas as I needed surgery, which was fantastic. However, I’m back home, I’m recovering, and I’ve now got a completed 4th draft of the story which I’m pretty damn proud of. All that’s left to do are faffy bits: editing, proofing, formatting, sorting out a cover reveal etc. No release date yet, as I’m not certain how long it’ll all take, but I’m hoping for it to be early/middle of this year. But it will definitely be this year, of that you can be assured, the book is, for all intents and purposes, finished 🙂

I cannot wait to get another book out – it’s been 3 and a half years at this point! I’ve gone all out on this book, I’ve invested blood, sweat, tears, tantrums, crippling self doubt, rage, depression and about £150 in Monster Energy to keep me writing into the small hours.

The reward has been the best feedback I’ve ever received on a book, and I’m hoping my readers enjoy it as much as the alpha/beta teams who were kind enough to spend their time reading the early and developing versions of it 🙂

While I’m waiting for the faffy bits to be done, I’ve also been writing the next in the series: King of Embers, Book II of Tales of Luah Fáil.

Right now, I’m approx 12,000 words into it, and I’m anticipating it’ll be roughly the same length as Horns of the Hunter (70400 words), or maybe a bit longer (80,000-90,000). With a bit of time between now and when I expect Horns of the Hunter to release, I’m not anticipating a large gap between books.

I’m aiming to have Tales of Luah Fáil done and dusted as a series by mid-2022. It’ll comprise 3 works, each a standalone, but interlinked, novel. Each volume will journey back further into the myths and history of the island of Luah Fáil, a name my readers will no doubt recognise from any works involving my character, Harlin 🙂

So yeah, exciting year ahead! Hopefully you all enjoy Horns of the Hunter when it lands. I’ll post further updates as and when I can confirm a release date/cover unveil etc. For now, I’ll bail on you and leave behind my customer latest choice in writing music: The Age of Starlight Ends by my all-time fave band, Anaal Nathrakh.
