I’ve been working on my next book, “Another Night Alone”. In this book, Deke Ward, head of security for Aspen Gold Lodge, gets his story.

Deke has a complicated past. He lost his job as a cop. The only one who would hire him, believe in him, was Jakob Spencer. He owes Jakob everything. For the last thirteen years, his whole life has revolved around taking care of Jakob, his family and his businesses. They have been his highest priorities.

But Deke always wanted a family.

Now he’s a little older. He hasn’t found the right woman, and has begun to accept it won’t happen for him. He tells himself that he’s content with helping his friends with their children. He can be a great uncle, if not a parent.

When he finds a woman and her child, he is instantly lost. He feels their age difference is too great. She deserves a kinder, gentler man. His dark heart isn’t worthy of his Angel’s love.

But can he let her go?
