Bresson compresses his art, purifying it, crystalizing it in his search for the essence of the image, the soul of the model, his word for actor. Reduction. Simplicity. Truth. Honesty. Never artifice. And all of it leading to a discovery, a surprise, where the hidden, the unexpected, is suddenly revealed!
