As much as I’ve gained
On this journey there still
Remains things unchanged

I overextend myself
Through the anxiety of
Losing something I’ve yet
To even attain

I squeeze them to death
Even though I think
I hold them gently
Then I flounder in justification
And apologise for my existence
While seeking it’s validation

Should I just accept this loneliness
Or settle for something which
Does not ignite me?

Time and time again
I’m reminded that
I am my own worst enemy.
