My first novel still sells, because it casts a very different perspective on death, and therefor on life. The novel rings true as so much is based on actual experience, although the characters are of my creation. My newest fan club, now 25 years after the initial publication, is a women's prison. I attended a group meeting of readers and was aware that the inmates wanted to speak frankly of their own spiritual yearnings but did not trust each other enough to open up in that way.
