Blogging

I've heard that writers need to on all social media, have a blog, have a podcast, and preferably be famous.

My problem with a blog or any announcement is that I just don't believe I have that much to say to people. Who am I to tell folks anything? I don't want to post simplistic memes that I could download and post. And if I really start to think about something to say, I end up exhausting myself.

Writing is hard. It is about the hardest thing that I do. I write for my job. I write for my writing. So as Larry McMurtry might say, I want to relax from my word herding.

But I'll try to herd the blog words for awhile.

Jim Sanderson A new note, American West writer and researcher Tom Clavin has added to his extraordinary work with his new history of Lee H. McNelly, FOLLOW ME TO HELL. If you like his work, you might like my forgotten novel NEVIN'S HISTORY. I spent several years on this novel. I worked harder and longer on it than I have on any other of my novels. Actually, I started writing it when I started reading about Texas history when I was ten years old. So it is my favorite of my novels. I have Lee H. McNelly and John S. "Rip" Ford both in this novel. Also their mutual rival and Ford's sometime friend Juan N. Cortina makes appearances. I have only two fictional characters, and I believe that every historical character appears in the place and time where they would have or could have appeared. I'll try to post some photos of me at McNelly's grave site. The ornate memorial was a gift from Captain Richard King, who started the King Ranch.

Joe Mumme I wish Nevin' History was on Kindle. I'd love to read it.
