How many man-hours would it take for a developer to fix some of the simple problems with Goodreads? Seems to me the only reason they don't is because they don't care.

The problem is that Amazon doesn't feel the need to fix anything in Goodreads bcz there is no competition. There is no other big company to topple them down, they don't feel threatened. Like Amazon Prime needs to do a lot because they are competing with Netflix. Goodreads needs something like that too.
Wow I thought this was going to be a call back to the "I broke Goodreads" videos but this is so much worse.
There *is* competition though. LibraryThing and Storygraph just need more people to be fed up with GR and to go searching for alternatives.
There is no big competition yet and once there is GR seems to rely on Amazon just buying the competition. Shelfari was bought and shut down and LibraryThing is also already partially owned by Amazon.
I'm sure you have other resources among your followers, but any time you need a librarian, lemme know. (Just watching the "Really, Goodreads?!" video now...)
I'm here to offer a comment sacrifice to the Goodread gods to see if it helps in any way. This guy has been making good, honest, and constructive points about your shitty website for a long time Amazon. Sure, he's frustrated and occasionally prone to rage fits, but it's all coming from a loving and caring place (right, Daniel? Right?).
Maybe spare 41 minutes and 54 seconds to watch the videos? Reading is not even required! ;)
Since you don't allow links, here are the video titles and ids. Just add them to a YouTube watch link!
(1) I BROKE GoodReads... TWICE! (FXAsB2rCONA)
(2) I Broke GoodReads Again... and again... and again... (SxXztQuItHY)
(3) So It's War Now - GoodReads RANT (_YU4uLFLP20)
This could be SUCH good marketing for you SO EASILY.
