Shakespeare Staging Website
There is a website about Shakespeare performance accessible on Google as shakespearestaging.berkeley. We are very keen to secure comments, evaluations and suggestions about its current condition and value, as well as about possible developments, such as adding whole new unpublished books on the site. Any reactions are most welcome, via the access provided on the site, or here. HMR

This blog is devoted to restoring Shakespeare to the popular audiences he addressed - rejecting pre-emptive interpretations which serve ulterior motives (psychoanalytic, marxist, deconstructive, feminist, etc.). It considers such contemporary "authorities" on Shakespeare as necessarily subordinate to their subject and too often only distracting from Shakespeare's self-sufficient distinction. It also questions stagings designed to enhance the visibility of designers and directors who do not trust Shakespeare's scripts. Indications of outcomes of this approach appear in the introductions to segments of the UCB website at shakespearstaging.berkeley on which comment is most welcome.
